International Conference on Inductive Logic Programming
(ILP 2004)
CALL FOR PAPERS |
||||||||||||||||||||
| Inductive Logic Programming (ILP) is a form of relational learning that is at the cutting-edge of extracting symbolic descriptions from data. ILP systems have, in the past, been used with success on difficult problems in the sciences, engineering, language understanding and the arts. ILP 2004 is the fourteenth in a series of international conferences on ILP. We are pleased to announce that this year the International Conference on Inductive Logic Programming will return to its place of birth in Portugal. The ILP conference series, started in 1991, was originally designed to act as an international forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest research results in all areas of learning logic programs. In keeping with this tradition and reflecting the wider scope of the field, authors are invited to submit papers presenting original results concerning the theory, implementations and applications of all aspects of learning logic programs, multi-relational learning and data mining, learning in first-order logic and in other (non-propositional) logic-based knowledge representation frameworks. Typical, but not exclusive, topics of interest for submissions include:
Proceedings The proceedings of the conference will be published by Springer Verlag in the Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence sub-series of LNCS. After the conference, authors of selected papers may be invited to submit an extended version for publication in a Special Issue of the journal Machine Learning. Those submissions will then be subject to a separate reviewing procedure according to the standards of the journal. Short Presentations ILP 2004 will have a session of short, 5-10 minutes
presentations. This session is intended for descriptions of work in progress,
student projects, open problems and research issues, as well as new application
challenges. Student Paper Award Machine Learning journal of Kluwer Academic Publishers honours the best student paper with an award. The award is based on significance and originality of the contribution. Important Dates The deadlines are the following ones: Conference .........................................September 6th, 7th and 8th, 2004 Abstract submission
............................. April
26th, 2004 Short
presentation submission ................... August
1st, 2004 Submission Information Papers must be written in English and should be no longer than 18 pages in Springer's LNCS/LNAI style. The cover page should include the paper title, each author's name, affiliation, and e-mail address, as well as the corresponding author's phone and fax numbers, a list of keywords, and an abstract of no more than 200 words. Only electronic submissions in PDF or PostScript file format will be accepted. It is the author's responsibility to ensure that the file is printable. All submissions will be acknowledged shortly after receipt. For more information, please visit the LNCS Information for Authors Web page at: http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html Submission will be done in two steps. In the first step
authors should submit the title of the paper, the complete Simultaneous Submissions Simultaneous submissions to other avenues are allowed, provided this fact is clearly indicated on the submission form. Accepted papers will appear in the ILP 2004 conference proceedings only if they have not appeared in, or have been accepted for publication elsewhere. Organization ILP 2004 is organized by the Laboratorio de Inteligencia Artificial e Ciencias da Computacao (LIACC) and the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (FEUP). |
